Dear Professor Kittler:

I am coordinating the IMPACT 4 international print conference to be held in Berlin and Poznan, Poland in September. Our primary session in Berlin will take place on Tuesday September 6, 2005 at UDK. We expect over 300 people to attend from over 20 countries.

While conference session proposals are currently being received (until February 15th), I am concerned that we have a key-note address regarding Walter Benjamin and the work of art in the age of mechanical reproduction. As you might expect, it is a subject that has informed some of the discourse at prior IMPACT conferences. The tension between exhibition and ritual value, the idea that all media has a syntax and issues of aura have been discussed.

Given that we will be in Berlin for this conference, it is something that I hope we can devote a keynote address to. It would be an honor for us to have you participate in the conference as one of our key-note speakers.

Here is the web site for the conference: http://web.utk.edu/~imprint

I will be back in Berlin March 16-20 and would be available to meet with you if you are interested. I appreciate your time and consideration, and look forward to hearing from you.

Cordially,

Beauvais Lyons
