Transferring to UT From Another Institution

If you are planning on transferring to UT in the middle of the academic year, here are a few important actions to take:

Be sure to inform your current school's Financial Aid Office that you are planning to transfer, so they can cancel your aid for the rest of the year. By doing this, there should not be any delays when we begin to process your aid.

If you did not list UT on your financial aid form as one of the institutions to receive your information, we will either need a copy of your Student Aid Report (SAR), or you may let us know your DRN located on the top, right corner of your SAR, and the latest transaction # of the SAR which is located just before the DRN. This will allow us to access your financial aid form data from the Department of Education's database.

If you are a recipient of the Tennessee Student Assistance Award, HOPE Scholarship and/or other funds from the Tennessee Lottery, you must call the Tennessee Student Assistance Corporation (TSAC), to inform them of your plans, so your state grant and/or scholarship(s) can be awarded at UT. TSAC's phone numbers are: (800) 342-1663 and (615) 741-1346.

If you are a Stafford Loan borrower, once you begin your semester at UT, you will need to request that the UT Records Office send your lender an In-School Deferment form, so they will know that you are still in school.
