"To provide financial assistance to deserving students of whatever
race, creed, or color of East Tennessee who have displayed habitual
diligence in some pursuit or employment as well as academics proficiency.
It is my desire to provide financial aid to students who may or may
not have the highest scholastic qualifications since there are already
in existence many funds or programs to assist those who make the highest
grades; and I desire that preference be given to physically handicapped
students wherever possible and practicable in the discretion of the
administrators of this
endowment fund."
