Marilyn Kallet's Children's Book Translated into Spanish
Now the story of Jack the cat can be read and enjoyed by more children.
Marilyn Kallet's "Jack the Healing Cat" has been translated into Spanish — "Jack El Gato Curandero."
Kallet, professor of English and a poet, wrote the story of Jack, a cat found by a little girl. It is illustrated by Sandra Van Winkle and published by Tellico Books, an imprint of Iris Press in Oak Ridge, Tenn.
Carmen Cumming, who is the wife of the publisher and is from Puerto Rico and taught Spanish at UT, translated the book into Spanish.
"We know that there are children reading in Spanish or in both Spanish and English who will like the story and take it to heart," Kallet said.
The publisher also has agreed to donate copies to school libraries.
