Office Supervisor

April has been called "the glue that holds the Department together." When there's a question and you just don't know who else to ask, April can probably answer it without so much as batting an eyelash.

April has worked at U.T. since 1983 - all of those years within the College of Education. She's served as Dr. Steve McCallum's administrative assistant since 1990. April was presented with UT's Most Courteous Employee of the Month award in January 1998. She attained the Certified Professional Secretary (CPS) rating several years ago. April graduated from UT Knoxville in 1981 with a B.A. in Sociology and Psychology and has taken several graduate courses in Public Administration.

She has been married to James Preneta--otherwise known as "Roo" to his friends---for 27 years, and they share their home with 2 adorable cats, Amarillo & Sissy. April is a native of Pittsburgh, PA, but she considers Knoxville "home" since she and Roo have lived here for nearly 30 years. In her spare time, she enjoys motorcycling, reading murder mysteries, and listening to the blues.
