Counselor Education Doctoral Program
Research Competency
Students in the Counselor Education doctoral program must demonstrate competency in research methodology and academic scholarship prior to the doctoral committee’s approval of the student’s dissertation proposal.
Second and third semester students will (a) work on research under the supervision of a faculty member and (b) regularly participate in an ongoing research group of Counselor Education students and faculty. Students may receive academic credit for their research involvement by enrolling in Directed Research (COUN 602).
Students shall continue their research involvement with faculty until the research methodology competency is met and meets with the approval of the student’s committee.
