Announcements & Assignments
04/24/08: Today is the last day of class! (w00t!) We will be meeting in the Hodges Library Viewing Room 212 to finish up our presentations. Be sure to check the Presentation Schedule to prepare for when you will be presenting.
- End of Semester Portfolios are due Today. Please turn them in to me in hard copy format during class time.
- Research Projects are due via email on Thursday, May 1st. Please send them to me in a regular document format.
- You have until Thursday, May 1st to revise your End of Unit 2 Blog Assignment, if so desired. Please email those to me in a regular document format, or simply cut-and-paste into the body of an email message.
- I will no longer be holding office hours. If you need to meet with me, please email me to set up an appointment.

04/22/08: We will be meeting today in the Hodges Library Viewing Room 252 for our first day of presentations. Be sure to check the Presentation Schedule to prepare for when you will be presenting.
- End of Semester Portfolios are due Thursday. Be sure to check the checklist to know what you need to include. Because I have been so late in getting back the End of Unit 2 Blog Assignments, you are welcome to turn in those particular revisions on May 1st with your Final Project.
- Be aware that you no longer need to place your Final Research Project in HTML format. Simply send it to me via a .doc file and I will take care of converting it. (However, if you would like to submit the project in HTML format, you are more than welcome to do so.)
- Research Projects are due via email on Thursday, May 1st. Please let me know if you have any questions.

04/15/08 & 04/17/08: Please remember that we will not be meeting face-to-face for class this week. Instead, you will be meeting one-on-one with me in my office on the 4th floor of McClung Tower for student conferences if you have not already done so.
- Rough drafts need to be emailed to me Tuesday, April 15th. We will be discussing these in conference.
- We will meet again face-to-face on Tuesday, April 22nd, in the Hodges Library Viewing Room 252 for Class Presentations. Make sure to check the Presentation Schedule to make sure you are prepared to present on your scheduled day.

04/10/08: Today, we will meet in our regular classroom in Estabrook, and we will spend the class period participating in an in-class writing workshop. Please remember that Research Project Proposals are due today. Also, be sure you know when you are scheduled for your presentation (check the Presentation Schedule) for the last week of class. For Tuesday:
- Be sure to comment on at least two of your peers' proposal posts. (Try saying that three times fast!)
- Please email your Rough Draft to me by Tuesday, April 15th. We will be discussing these in one-on-one conferences next week.
- We will not be meeting as a class next week due to student conferences. Please make sure that you have signed up to meet with me.

04/08/08: Today, we will meet in our regular classroom in Estabrook, and we will discuss Wil Wheaton's Dancing Barefoot, take our final Reading Quiz over the material, and wrap up our discussion with what we've learned as a class from maintaining a personal blog over the course of the semester. For Thursday:
- Review the Presentation Schedule to see what day you are scheduled to do your Research Project Presentation during the last week of class.
- Make sure you have reviewed Part Three of the Research Project Guidelines for detailed information on completing the Proposal due by class time on Thursday April 10th.
- Be prepared for an in-class writing workshop on Thursday.
- Make sure you have scheduled a conference with me for the following week.

04/03/08: Today, we will meet in our regular classroom in Estabrook, and I will introduce Wil Wheaton as an author, actor, and blogger in preparation for reading Dancing Barefoot. I will also go over the timeline for assignments for the rest of the month, discuss the proposal assignment due next week, sign students up for conference times, and answer any questions about the research project so far. 04/01/08: Today, we will meet in our regular classroom in Estabrook, and we will share our reactions to Stardust and complete a Reading Quiz. For Thursday:
- Your Annotated Bibliography is due Thursday, April 3rd. Please post this to the Class Blog when complete. Feel free to review Step Two of the Research Project handout for information, instructions, and links to examples.
- Begin reading Dancing Barefoot.
- We will be meeting in our regular classroom in Estabrook on Thursday. Let me know if you have any questions!
03/27/08: Today, we will meet in Hodges Library Viewing Room 212 for class, and we will finish watching Stardust. We will have a Reading Quiz over differences in the film and the novel on Tuesday, and we will have class discussion on both at that time. Remember that the End of Unit 2 Blog Assignment is due tonight at midnight; check the summary and prompts page for more informaton. For Tuesday:
- Finish reading Stardust.
- Blog prompt due by classtime on Tuesday, April 1st: Pick a character from Stardust, and then pick a scene from the novel that appeals to you. Write a blog entry from the point of view of that character which relays the events of that particular scene; in other words, blog as that character. (Be sure to reference the scene you're talking about by page number, so we can compare the blogging style with the fiction style.)
- Your Annotated Bibliography should be posted to the Class Blog by midnight on Thursday, April 3rd. Please review Step Two of the Research Project handout for more information and instructions.

03/25/08: Today, we will meet in Hodges Library Viewing Room 212 for class, and we will begin Unit Three. We will discuss how multimedia informs the imagination, and how imagination helps generate new knowledge. We will begin watching Stardust. For Thursday:
- Continue reading Stardust, paying close attention to differences between the film and the novel.
- The End of Unit Two Blog Assignment is due Thursday, March 27th. You can review the summary and possible prompts by following this link. Please post to the Class Blog by midnight on Thursday.
- Keep in mind that the Annotated Bibliography component of the Research Project is due Tuesday, April 1st.
- We will be meeting again in Hodges Library Viewing Room 212 for class on Thursday. We will finish watching Stardust at that time.
