Goal

Ensuring the conservation of Golden-winged Warbler populations through sound science, education, and management.

 

Background

The Golden-winged Warbler Working Group is comprised of over 80 United States, Canadian, and Latin American ornithologists, conservationists, and managers from academia, federal and state agencies, international non-governmental organizations, and industry. The Working Group met for three days in August 2005 in Siren, Wisconsin, to develop priorities for research and strategies for outreach, education, and conservation action for the species.

Working Group Objectives

  1. Increase awareness of Golden-winged Warbler conservation status throughout its range.
  2. Identify gaps in knowledge and develop priorities for coordinated Golden-winged Warbler research and management.
  3. Develop and implement a conservation plan for Golden-winged Warblers that includes research, education, management, regional coordination, and monitoring.
  4. Develop a mechanism for information sharing and conservation action follow-through.
