Undergraduate Program

The University of Tennessee offers bachelor's degrees in speech pathology and in audiology through the College of Arts and Sciences. Specific requirements for undergraduate admission to the College of Arts and Sciences can be found on the UT Admissions Home Page.

Undergraduate degrees in speech pathology and audiology are pre-professional degrees. Graduate degrees are necessary for anyone wishing to practice professionally. Undergraduate course work, in combination with graduate course work is used for professional certification by the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA). ASHA now requires a minimum of a master's degree in speech-language pathology, and an doctoral degree in audiology to become a certified professional.

Admission to the undergraduate major requires a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 after completion of at least 60 credit hours. Admission to the major does not guarantee admission to the graduate program.
